Princeton City Guide
Princeton, New Jersey is a picture-perfect small town halfway between New York City and Philadelphia with a population of 16,265 and a humid continental climate (hot summers, cold winters). This town is perhaps best known for its most famous resident: in 1933 Albert Einstein moved here from Europe to escape the Nazis and wound up staying until his death in 1955. You can visit his home, the Albert Einstein House, which is in the National Register of Historic Places.
This east coast town is also known for Einstein’s academic home, the Institute for Advanced Study, and Princeton University, one of the top undergraduate universities in the country and the first to replace student loans with grants that aren’t required to be paid back. This means that students (and others) can spend more cash at Labyrinth Books, which stocks university course books and offers plenty of events like readings, lectures, and films.
The best place to store books are climate-controlled storage units at a conveniently located self storage facility.
Besides the numerous arts venues like Princeton University Art Museum and the University Chapel, you may also enjoy the Princeton Tour Company which offers guided walking tours of the campus and town, and has a special nighttime ghost tour. If you prefer walking by yourself, head over to the Delaware and Raritan Canal where you’ll find 74 miles of paths along Millstone River where you can walk, cycle, fish, and canoe.
Refuel after an active day with the best sushi in town at Ajihei, a small Japanese restaurant that was featured in the New York Times, Teresa’s Pizzetta Café, a casual place with a delicious slice, or Les Copains for an upscale experience. For a low-key drink, check out Yankee Doodle Tap Room, a tavern (with a fireplace!) that offers a short but tasty beer list. Or for a drink and a laugh, visit Catch a Rising Star, a comedy club that features both local comics and big stars.
The best place to store your canoes, bicycles, and comedy props is at a nearby self storage unit.
It’s important to be familiar with the surrounding area around a storage facility and the additional services available to assist you either moving into or out of a self storage unit.
