Rochelle Park City Guide
Rochelle Park, New Jersey is officially a township which is, for this particular state, simply one of five types of municipal government and is a fully-fledged town—with a fancy name. Though the population is a modest 5,530, Rochelle has seen a growth spurt of 2 since the last Census ten years ago when the population was a mere 5,528. This New Jersey town was named after a French city, La Rochelle.
Residents of this township love the small-town feel, so you won’t find a lot of big city problems, like traffic or high rises or a downtown area. However, you’ll still find plenty to do if you don’t mind venturing outside of its 1.063-square-mile boundary to the neighboring towns of Maywood or Paramus. There you’ll find the AMC Garden State 16 movie theater, the performing arts theater New Vision Players, and the Steuben House, a history museum, which is the only surviving building from the American Revolution’s 1776 Retreat Through Bergen County.
Don’t let a lack of space clutter up your home, office or car! Consider renting some storage units at a nearby self storage facility.
For people who enjoy the outdoors, you can easily get to Saddle River County Park, a 577-acre collection of five connected parks with a waterfall, ponds, playgrounds, tennis courts, and a bike/pedestrian path. And if being underwater is your thing, Blue Water Divers is a local dive shop where you can learn to scuba dive.
There are many restaurants in the area, such as Chakra Restaurant, bars, like the Irish pub The Cottage Bar, and dance clubs, like Rise which features live music and DJs. If you need more variety, Rochelle Park is about 16 miles north/northwest of Manhattan, Newark, and Jersey City. If you’re new to the area and intimidated by New York City, sign up for a guided walking tour with CityRover Walks NY to learn about the history and favorite hot spots.
With all the souvenirs, scuba equipment, and trendy fashions (like high-heeled sneakers—you are close to fashionable NYC, after all) you’ll be collecting along the way, be sure to rent a self-storage unit in town to safely stash your seasonal belongings.
It’s important to be familiar with the surrounding area around a storage facility and the additional services available to assist you either moving into or out of a self storage unit.
